Further to the Member Alert issued yesterday afternoon after the NSW Government announced the tightening of the COVID-19 restrictions in Greater Sydney there has been an opportunity to now review the Public Health (COVID 19 Greater Sydney) Order (No. 2) 2021.

Based on this information the following can now be clarified for members:

Do I need to wear a mask on a construction site?

No. Masks are not required to be worn on a construction site.

Are there exemptions for wearing face masks when indoors?

Yes. The Public Health Order clarifies that masks may be removed when:

· a person is working alone in an indoor area (such as an office) until another person enters the area;
· the person is in a vehicle alone or with another person of the same household;
· the person is at work and the nature of the person’s work means a clear enunciation; or
· it is necessary to do so for the proper provision of the goods or service.

Am I a visitor when I am engaging in renovation work?

No. While visitors to households are limited to 5 guests, however workers at the place of residence do not count towards the maximum number of persons allowed in a household.
