Changes to COVID-19 restrictions will apply to certain locations across NSW and will take effect from 4.00pm 23rd of June.

Restriction changes for Sydney, Blue Mountains, CentralĀ Coast and Shellharbour are:

  • The one person per four square metre rule will be re-introduced for all indoor and outdoor settings.
  • If you live or work in Metropolitan Sydney (which includes City of Sydney, Waverley, Randwick, Canada Bay, Inner West, Bayside, and Woollahra local government areas), you cannot travel outside metropolitan Sydney for non-essential travel.
  • Masks will be compulsory in all indoor non-residential settings including workplaces.

Can building work continue?

Yes.

All building activity on site can continue subject to:

  • compliance with the square metre rule where possible;
  • the wearing of face masks to the extent that it is safe and reasonable to do so; and
  • compliance with other COVID-19 health and hygiene requirements.

This advice is based on the information publicly available at this time. Urgent confirmation is being sought from the Government in relation to the need for workers in outdoor settings to wear face masks. Should further information be available in the public directions (yet to be published) or in advice received from the Government, we will advise members accordingly. Until that time, members should take the necessary steps on all residential buildingĀ sites.

Is travel to and from Metropolitan Sydney for building work permitted?

Yes, traveling to attend a building site is considered essential and therefore permitted.
